Chella, it is a known fact that to get something you must give or compromise on something. Paying more for something less in return has become a way of life today. The major fault is that no one seems to know the price he is paying to live such a life. People need to look more seriously at what they are damaging than what they are trying to construct. It is basic mathematics. I am sure the authorities concerned are good at it to let such a phenomenon go by unnoticed.

We are taking the philosophical road for awhile. So what is new in what you have said? nothing! This sort of 'thing' has been going on from time memorial; in one form or another. The only difference being, that in today's hi-tech world the fraud is more elaborate...but so is the exposure; After all you did bring this to our notice pretty fast, didn't you ?
Now the question is what do we do about it? well, as i told you Chella, (personally), on so many occasions..(and this is no laughing matter), NATURE WILL HIT BACK !! And when that happens, the resulting catastrophe will be more than what we can ever imagine. The tsunamis, earthquakes, famines are all natural phenomena....while the 'unatural' ones being world wide disseases..Aids, and now an even more terifying....AVIAN FLU. And believe me when i say that there are more on the way.
The "good" people of the Isha Foundation should understand, that there is NO WAY you can screw around with nature, and get away with it. Sooner or later there is bound to be a backlash; and i know for sure that people like you will be there to shout out loud..."I WARNED YOU"

Hi Chella,
The kind of human welfare (social, mental, physical and spiritual) that is bought about by Isha Foundation far outweighs the damage that is caused to the environment on one night. Apart from this, Isha is involved in a lot of environmental projects. Having been there, i know this. After all, you are seeing what they are doing for one night alone and forgetting what they are doing the rest of the year!
Hence allow me to express my objection to your post.

It is too bad that you are right there in the midst of a phenomenal master's presence and are missing him altogether. Your concern for the surrounding forest is an honorable one, but your estimations about the intentions and role of Sadhguru are completely off base. Perhaps sit again in the presence of the incredible Dhyanalinga and feel the song of love for life that pours from it. I can only imagine that every beating heart in a hundred mile radius must benefit immeasurably from its proximity. I travelled thousands of miles from the U.S. to be there from a spine shaking experience I had merely viewing a photograph of the linga. I wish you all the best.

i went to their 'abode' once, with my family. it is kilometers outside the city. after reaching there, i was told not to take my baby son inside, so that he wont disturb others. i refused to go in either: Yuthishtira (Dharma) in Mahabharat refused to enter the heaven when a stray dog that followed him was refused entry, surely i can refuse the spiritual heaven that forbids my son! my point is, they could have informed in their numerous publicity brochures that children are not allowed. Having taken a child all the way, am i expected to leave him out? on my way back, in surly mood, i picked a quarrel with the guard, who told me not to park in a particular place while waiting for my wife. the fellow told me something about the cars being a disturbance to the meditation. i retorted that if you expect a rich man to come to your institution you must accomodate his car also. after all, you could have said, "no visitors please" and that is that. a rich man's purse cannot travel alone. and the rich suckers cannot walk 20 km, even for a great guru like him!
the fact is that these modern gurus are selling religion, not spreading. they exploit the guilt of the new rich, their guilt about their money amidst the poverty and their attempts to buy off the conscience with some yoga and exercise. no guru ever cares for the poor. the poor are mere tools to show off their charity, through their hospitals. hinduism is for the rich; no hindu guru enters a slum to preach religion. only the christian missionaries care for the poor. and, when the poor people respond to the missionaries, and worship their god, then the VHPs and RSSs will cry hoarse about conversions!
i have carefully watched these gurus, including the one who recently celebrated 25 years of service with pomp, none of them is advocating ethics in your business or personal life. if you preach the businessman, the politician and the bureaucrat to be honest with people, they will stop coming to you! instead, let them bring their tainted money to you, and you with your holy touch, will make that money clean! buddha dissented 2500 years ago with the priestly religion that sent only the rich to heaven through costly 'yagnas'. and all these centuries had not made any change in the attitude of the hindu gurus. no wonder this religion is called the eternal religion - you dont improve at all, being eternally serving the rich and the powerful! may god save himself from these internet age gurus!

I went and wrote and saw what nonsense is going on there in the name of isha fest and shivarathri. You read the history of your chicken yogi first before commenting on my eligibility. Chella has seen fanatics... normally fools aplenty. Infront of nature everyone is a speck of a speck. That much understanding, boldness,love and honesty is imbibed in Chella by many gurus in the past. So dont care and journey goes on.... with love Chella

Well, it's been awhile since i visited this thread...and was quite suprised to see that it's still HOT. I say 'suprised' because i thought a topic like this, either, wouldnt make the grade, or simply fizzle out and dissappear from people minds faster than you could say"WHAT THE..". But it seems i am mistaken. What i found extremely funny.....yes FUNNY was the consequential name-calling; by some (Enlighted?) soul, by the name of ..............damn it, i'm too lazy to scroll up again!!
Anyway Churchil once said that if it wasn't for critiscism, he would not be the great man he was. He thrived on it. The ISHA foundation has come out tops in that respect. Like any, true, Great organisation it has taken the criticism and will (hopefully) never create a similar blunder in the future.
But Chella, you are one lucky person. A few of the small CLOWNS are now giving you free publicity. REJOICE!! I know quite a few people who would give their left arm or leg to get critiscised, AND YOU ARE GETTING IT FREE.....YOU LUCKY....@#$%

By the way, do not let anything stop the good work you are doing in exposing many of the negative aspects prevailing in our society in this day and age. somebody has to do it...so why not Chella?

Chella, Till year 1998, a lot of poaching happened at Velliangiri mountains by Industrialists. They used to kill animals from the forests at their will. Only Isha people took steps to stop them and now you can say poaching is almost not at all there. You did not voice against this poaching and now you are complaining for something which happen once or twice an year.

Hi eventhough i dont know abt this isha yoga and even i didnt gone through this mail....
But according to me wt all thes people r trying to do is exactly a non-sense which is not representing any godliness in their teachings.....If u go to bhagavat geetha it s explained abt yoga as a link.(link between human and god) and the highest of all yogas is bhakthi yoga. below tht all comes these astanga yoga,buddhi yoga,karma yoga,gnana yoga etc...but by doing these types of yogas one can attain the perfection of karmayoga and then to bhakthi yoga....but these so called yogies (i dont know their names and activities) are simply bluffing people and making money....so my sincere advice is pls refer to bahgavat gita and try to know wht is real yoga and wt it is used for and how to attain and practice that...dont fal pery to these bleady yogis and lose ur valuable time.

That is the most vital service that can be done to Humanity. All the Vedas, Scriptures etc, take you to that state where you start searching for yourself and finally reach the point of TOTAL SURRENDER. - SHARANAGATHI.

Yes, someone earlier had replied in this page, that - Bhakti Yoga is the Best and all these other forms of Yoga are waste. Yes Bhagavad Gita says Bhakti Yoga is the Best. But How many of you those who have read Bhagavad Gita - will fall at the feet of Lord Krishna and say - "Oh Lord, I surrender to you. Thou shall take care of me."

I know its impossible. Coz of the way we are brought up. So in order to break you into pieces and destroy the "I" in you, you need some hammer to hit you hard. For that you need to follow certain procedures - like other ways of teachings to bring you to that state.

Yes. I definitely know that - Becoming Nothing is the final stage. But even a Water in Liquid form to get converted to a vapour - You need to provide heat. ISHA is just providing the environment for you to be heated. Its Individual's duty to become a vapour.

I am not a spokesperson of ISHA. I just wanted to provide a new dimension to the same topic.

Hi all,

I am on of those members who has just been introduced to this dhyanalinga, a couple of weeks ago i went to this place for the first time. Anybody with a slight inclination towards spirituality would fall in love with this place, so did i...

I felt like giving chella a piece of my mind, but some of the issues that he raised seemed valid and true.. Thanks to Vavnik who has cleared most of the questions that the postings raised in my mind, and i would like to repeat his statement

After reading through all of the posts, i still have one question unanswered, an issue that gopalan raised on march 26th 2006-
