TAMIL name plate in OHIO!
My long time reader & friend Srinivasan Prasanna ( Living in Toledo, Ohio) is a Tamil Lover and an interesting multidimensional personality. He loves biking very much. Coimbatore is a place I would always cherish. For one who is not a native born Coimbatorean - but having lived there between 1967 & 1977 (IV std. to Matric @ Carmels, PUC at PSGA), I am always amazed by her industrious people, the industry the mutual respect for one another.
While I have been living in the US since 1982, I have made a couple of trips (1994 & 2003). Much has not changed, which much more can change for the better.
With Madras, Bangalore and Hyderabad filled to the brim, several MNCs are going to eye cities such as CBE as their next favored destination. Blessed with several top grade academic institutions and the entreprenaurial spirit of its residents, CBE holds an edge compared to competing S. Indian destinations.
To bring this to fruition, CBE should lead the way by taking pro-active measures in improving its infrastructure, roads, erecting better road signs, parking facilities, drainage/sewer and not the mention water. Projects like the siruthuli go a long way, but much has to be done and in short order.
The discipline, mutual respect, hard work and other positive traits of a CBEian can lend to the early adaptation and acceptance of these changes - which would clearly showcase CBE in the eyes of the world.
CBE & CBEians are best poised to act on JFK's famous words "Ask not what your country can do for you... Ask what YOU can do for your country" - cheers, Ken Divakar/Austin/Texas/USA.
