What do you want to become?!!
I used to ask the above question whenever I visit a schools in South India . Bit bored about the monotonous answers like Doctors, Engineers, Advocates… that is all. Please think for a moment. I know most of the fresh MBBS doctors are earning only around 5 to 10 k and not more than that. Engineers… if not selected in the campus interview will earn around 3 to 5k in a small company. Advocates earns around 1k to 2 k for next five years as a Junior.
See the other side... One of my friend who has just completed his Textile Design Course is earning 20k by freelancing. Another friend who completed his Tamil M Phil is earning 15 k as a freelance copywriter to many Advertising companies. I know one translator of French & Tirupur in Tirupur making 25k per month. One more girl Sunitha is making 12k as an Interior Designer after her B Com and a six month course in Mumbai. I see a lot of high thinking people like the above ones are emanating from the present youths. They want to spread their wings in all directions. The future is bright for these small flock of people who are ready to severe the herd mentality and ready venture into new unknown tracks. I salute those explorers! After all tough roads make skilled drivers!!

இந்த அரசியல்வாதிகளே இப்படித்தான் ...
Last week I read one interesting fact about how Dr Anbumani Ramdass, central health minister has choosen the school for his own children in Delhi.. a non tamil teaching English medium school, though a good school taht teaches Tamil is available in the capital. ஊருக்கு மட்டும் தான் உபதேசம் is proved again.
These politicians want the village vote bank of illiterates at any cost. What is wrong in learning in English Medium. Those who can read and speak in English only are absorbed in Corporates and BPO firms. If you listen to this politicians your children's life is at stake. They know what is good for their own children!
I dont think the Tamilnadu people are listening to them! All nursery and English medium schools in Tamilnadu is full now! Even my native villagers are sending their children to the nearby English MEdium Schools. Enriching Tamil is a different issue altogether. I read Kural from my father with Asai, Thodai, Ani etc. It should be left to your own interest but for making a good living you must be well versed with good English. Thousands of our arts graduates are working in Bangalore and Chennai BPOs because of this skill. No government job is created for them. Same politicians came to power and stoped all government intakes!! Do they want us to die out of hunger! எங்கும் தமிழ் எதிலும் தமிழ் ஆனால் தமிழன் வயிரு மட்டும் பசியால் காலி - is the real fact now. After all language is a tool to communicate... as Dindigul Leoni says, our people are cooly saying ... " Bust Stand ன்னு தமிழ்'ல சொல்லப்பா!"
See you tomorrow! ( I will update my blog everyday otherwise I will be informing you readers in a simple post, saying "when the next post will be")

The best project in Web!

Thanks to Tim Berners Lee for giving us the best of contents in the form of world wide web. Without his hypertexts the Internet will be a collection of stand alone islands of contents/knowledge. In this context I used to think, "What is the best ever web project that uses his invention... The ultimate answer is Wikipedia Project. Every day thousands of pages added and edited by volunteers. I am with this movement for a few years and the present trend is very encouraging. It is the tru knowledge power house built upon Open Source! Long live wiki wiki web encyclopedia!
About Wikipedia
Wikipedia is a Web-based, multi-language, free-content encyclopedia written collaboratively by volunteers and sponsored by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation. It has editions in roughly 200 different languages (about 100 of which are active) and contains entries both on traditional encyclopedic topics and on almanac, gazetteer, and current events topics. Its purpose is to create and distribute a free international encyclopedia in as many languages as possible. Wikipedia is one of the most popular reference sites on the internet,[1] receiving around 60 million hits per day.
Wikipedia contains approximately 1.6 million articles. More than 600,000 of these are in English, more than 250,000 in German, and more than 100,000 each in Japanese and French. It began as a complement to the expert-written Nupedia on January 15, 2001. Having steadily risen in popularity,[2] it has spawned several sister projects, such as Wiktionary, Wikibooks, and Wikinews. It is edited by volunteers in wiki fashion, meaning articles are subject to change by nearly anyone. Wikipedia's volunteers enforce a policy of "neutral point of view" whereby views presented by notable persons or literature are summarized without an attempt to determine an objective truth. Because of its open nature, vandalism and inaccuracy are problems in Wikipedia.
The status of Wikipedia as a reference work has been controversial, and it is both praised for its free distribution, free editing and wide range of topics and criticized for alleged systemic biases, preference of consensus to credentials, deficiencies in some topics, and lack of accountability and authority when compared with traditional encyclopedias. Its articles have been cited by the mass media and academia and are available under the GNU Free Documentation License. Its German language edition has been distributed on compact discs, and many of its other editions are mirrored or have been forked by websites.

Ilayaraja - a critical view by Amala Sing!
This post is for Tamil knowing audience only! Amala Singh wrote in Tamil.net ...
I dont understand/accept Amalasingh's views. This is a petty indian minded one. They dont understand the sustainability issue. Ilayaraja could have done his part free but what about the other major expenses. I want his music and not his money. It is a fantastic piece he rightly called it as Oratorio... read my post a few days ago on this type of music. He is a king of melodies... and for those who compare him with AR Rehman... how many people are now recording or asking (in FM stations ) the so called great hits of AR rehman ... China Chinna Aasai? ... but still people are asking / hearing Nizhalgal ... poongathavae Thaal Thiravaai!

Loved these lines from another blog

Sarcastic smiles and fake hellos
We try to hide but always
Leave an open door behind
To escape from reality
It felt so sure but we said no
We’re throwing lies at someone
We don’t know, we don’t know
From this reality
Why can’t we risk our lives
For something that we can’t deny
We try to run from something
We don’t know, we don’t know
Is this reality?

Justice delayed for 54 years in India!
Today I read another pathetic story in the newpaper. In the eastern state of Assam one person ( again a villager ) is detained in the Prison for more than 54 years without any trial. In the passage of time he even forgot on what charges he was arrested and even the state government dont have details of the same case. He is released recently by a judge saying it is unfortunate. He is planning to spend his days in his remote village. Many of his relatives even forgot his existence. Long live the indian judicial system!

Delivering a child in a busy street, at TamilNadu. Shame on us!
I read a shoking report in Dinamalar Daily today. It happened in recent hours in Salem, Tamilnadu. A village pregnant women was walking in Sevvai Pettai, Appu Chetty road yesterday. While she was passing near one Mahavir Hospital she got PAIN and fell down in the road. She was screaming in Pain for an hour. No women came near though it is a busy street. After an hour she fainted and gave bith to a child in the side of the road. The child started crying..still no one came to help. Even the women in the nearby houses closed the door are simply watched but none came to help her to remove the Thoppul Kodi . After some time the women herself tried to cut it and cried for help. Only after a few minutes the nearby Mahavir Hospital people simply allowed her to sit in the verandah, not even giving first aid for the blood loss that was going on! After someones help now she is admitted to Salem Government Hospital. This city people lost their heart.
My friend Kadir told me that the street is full of Jains and north Indians. They are paying their dues to TamilNadu which is known as Vandhaarai Vaalavaikkum Tamilagam! That is why I hate people who says that they want to help the society.... that too this type of kind hearted society?! Shit!
Our concrete jungles can not even support beggers! Where the thinaai culture of TamilNadu gone!
